Welcome to Polar Dessert Bar! We are proudly a local, family-run dessert shop in the heart of Mount Maunganui, serving up sweet treats with a whole lot of wow.

After spending six years in Wellington, we moved back home to the Mount and took over Polar Dessert Bar in October 2023 from its wonderful previous owners, Ian and Pam.

Since then, we’ve been putting our own spin on things while keeping the same community feel that made Polar so loved in the first place. For us, Polar is all about fun, flavour, and creating a dessert experience people remember.

Our menu is packed with treats made to make you smile — from premium New Zealand gelato and loaded waffles to warm brownies, shakes, sundaes, and our signature handcrafted rolled ice cream made right in front of you.

Whether you’re popping in after dinner, treating the kids, celebrating something special, or just need a little pick-me-up, we’re here to make it delicious.
